Genesis 17
Abraham and the Covenant of Circumcision
Gen 17:1 And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, Jehovah appeared to Abram and said to him, I am the Almighty God! Walk before Me and be perfect.
Gen 17:2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.
Gen 17:3 And Abram fell on his face. And God talked with him, saying,
Gen 17:4 As for Me, behold! My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.
Gen 17:5 Neither shall your name any more be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham. For I have made you a father of many nations.
Gen 17:6 And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, greatly so, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you.
Gen 17:7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you.
Gen 17:8 And I will give the land to you in which you are a stranger, and to your seed after you, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. And I will be their God.
Gen 17:9 And God said to Abraham, And you shall keep My covenant, you and your seed after you in their generations.
Gen 17:10 This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your seed after you. Every male child among you shall be circumcised.
Gen 17:11 And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin. And it shall be a token of the covenant between Me and you.
Gen 17:12 And a son of eight days shall be circumcised among you, every male child in your generations; he that is born in the house, or bought with silver of any stranger who is not of your seed.
Gen 17:13 He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with your silver, must be circumcised. And My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Gen 17:14 And the uncircumcised male child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.
Isaac’s Birth Promised
Gen 17:15 And God said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name shall be Sarah.
Gen 17:16 And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her. Yes, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations, kings of people shall be from her.
Gen 17:17 And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him that is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?
Gen 17:18 And Abraham said to God, Oh that Ishmael might live before You!
Gen 17:19 And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed. And you shall call his name Isaac. And I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
Gen 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall father twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation.
Gen 17:21 But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time in the next year.
Gen 17:22 And He left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
Gen 17:23 And Abraham took his son Ishmael, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his silver; every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins in the same day, even as God said to him.
Gen 17:24 And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Gen 17:25 And his son Ishmael was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Gen 17:26 In the same day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised.
Gen 17:27 And all the men of his house, that were born in the house, and bought with silver of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
Prayer – Circumcision
Lord, my God
I want to worship You in the spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus
I no longer want to have confidence in the flesh
I don’t want to be stiff-necked
I pray that you will circumcise my heart
So that I can love You Jehovah my God with all my heart and with all my soul
Holding nothing back
For Your Word says: “He is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that outwardly in flesh;
But he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart; in spirit and not in letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God“.
In Jesus’ name I pray
Amen
Lewe in my teenwoordigheid en wees opreg.
“Daarby is Sara nou 90 jaar.
24Abraham was 99 jaar oud toe hy besny is 25en sy seun Ismael was dertien jaar.
Gebed – Besnydenis
Here, my God,
Ek bid dat U my hart sal besny
Sodat ek U kan liefhê Here my God met my hele hart en met my hele siel
Ek wil niks van U weerhou nie
U Woord sê: “Want jy is nie ’n ware Jood bloot omdat jy in die openbaar as ’n Jood bekend staan of omdat jy uitwendig besny is nie.
In Jesus naam
Amen
